What Are the Odds? Practical Magic 2 Arrives Under a Very Witchy Sky

September 10, 2026: a movie about magic, and a sky full of it.

What are the odds that Practical Magic 2 arrives in theaters on September 10, 2026—on a day when the astrology is practically waving a little witchy flag of its own?

Now, before we get carried away: I’m not suggesting the planets scheduled the movie. Hollywood has release calendars, marketing departments, contracts, and probably considerably fewer crystal balls than we might imagine.

But the timing is almost comically on-the-nose.

On September 10, the sky is busy.

We have a Virgo New Moon, traditionally associated with discernment, health, routines, nourishment, and the practical work of putting our lives back into order. On the same day, Venus enters Scorpio, taking us beneath the surface into questions of intimacy, desire, power, attachment, and what we truly value.

Mercury enters Libra, shifting our attention toward relationships, communication, balance, and the choices we make with other people.

And Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini, turning our attention inward around ideas, information, communication, and the stories we have been carrying forward.

All of this happens as Practical Magic 2 brings the Owens sisters—and their particular brand of inherited magic—back into the cultural conversation. (Practical Magic)

That is what I find so interesting.

The astrology isn’t saying, “This movie is magical because the planets made it happen.”

It’s more interesting than that.

The cultural moment and the astrology are speaking a similar symbolic language.

Magic, inheritance, feminine knowledge, intuition, transformation, relationships, old patterns, and the question of what we choose to carry forward.

And perhaps that is especially appropriate for September.

Virgo asks: What actually works?

Scorpio asks: What lies underneath?

Libra asks: What needs to be brought back into balance?

Uranus in Gemini asks: What are we ready to think about differently?

That feels remarkably close to the idea of practical magic itself.

Not magic as escapism.

Magic as paying attention.

Magic as knowing when a pattern has run its course.

Magic as tending to the body, the home, the relationships, the rituals, and the everyday choices that shape a life.

Where Astrology Becomes Wellness

This is also where I think astrology becomes especially useful.

We don’t have to treat a transit as something that happens to us. We can use it as a prompt to become more observant of ourselves.

A Virgo New Moon can be an invitation to look at the small things that support our wellbeing: how we’re eating, sleeping, moving, working, resting, and caring for our bodies.

Venus moving into Scorpio can invite a deeper look at what nourishes us emotionally—and what quietly drains us.

Mercury in Libra can bring awareness to the conversations, relationships, and boundaries that affect our nervous system and sense of balance.

And Uranus turning retrograde in Gemini can give us a reason to pause and notice the mental patterns, information, and stories that may be influencing how we feel.

This is the kind of astrology I find most meaningful: not prediction for prediction’s sake, but awareness that can become action.

The chart gives us a language for noticing.

Our bodies give us information.

And our everyday choices are where the real transformation happens.

Maybe that is the most interesting kind of magic—the kind that doesn’t require us to escape ordinary life, but helps us become more conscious within it.

A little more nourishment. A little more discernment. A little more balance. A willingness to release what no longer supports us.

That is practical 🪄✨⭐️magic.

And on September 10, 2026, the sky seems to be offering a rather beautiful reminder of it.
