March Birth Flower

As a northern the month of March is a wonderful healing month. The warm up and thawing starts this month after the darkness and cold of winter. The best part of March is the spring solstice. The flowers start to bud and show off its early beauty. The month of March is known for the specific two flowers, the daffodils and Jonquils. As a herbalist these two flowers have some secrets to share with us.

March’s birth flower the daffodil is native to Europe and North America. Since, it blooms in the spring time and thus represents rebirth of your inner self and your dreams. Think of daffodils as as they promote their beauty you should do the same as well. Winter can cause hermit mode for a lot of people especially for empaths introverts. If you have been acting like a wise old wizard in the woods its time to get outside and let people see you!

Daffodils provide good luck and prosperity but, can also include vanity. Stay humble and prosper! Looking for a path to start your first step on your goals this maybe a great time! The northern hemisphere is seeing more sunlight and warmth to give you that extra frequency to rebirth your life. Just like the saying spring cleaning, yes do that with your home and inner self.

Mythologies my favorite part, Daffodils were highly interested by past civilizations. Just like every plant there is another name for them, such for Daffodil is  Narcissuschúi-sian, which means water fairy.

In the Greek culture there were myths the Goddess Persephone was taken to the Underworld by the Hades while she was picking these type of flowers. These flowers are supposed to be sacred and grow by the underworld river system called Styx.

Jonquils are like Daffodils, but some key differences! Jonquils are harder and stronger. They can grow is a much more extreme temperatures. The zones of 8 and up, while the Daffodil’s are only in zones 3 to 8. If you enjoy scented flowers, these two are opposites. The daffodil’s are a much lighter fragrance while the Jonquils is much more stronger. Just my thoughts, this could be due to harsher climates of hardiness of 8 and above it has to promote and try to get more attention from the bees to pollinate.

Pisces Sun Sign February 19 to March 20 for astrology flower is Daffodils. This is beautiful flower to provide as a birthday gifts for yourself or a loved one. It’s a hearty plant as well. As a herbalist, I would love a garden gift of daffodils, especially Jonquil seeds to plant. Pisces is a water sign and very spiritual. Both daffodils and Jonquils resemble a high spiritual aspects, especially the vibrate light colors of renew and healing.
